What a valid Australian tax invoice must include

For a taxable sale of $82.50 (including GST) or more, the ATO requires a tax invoice to show the words "Tax invoice", the seller's identity and ABN, the date the invoice was issued, a description of what was sold, the GST amount (or a statement that the total price includes GST), and the extent to which each item is taxable. For invoices of $1,000 or more it must also show the buyer's identity or ABN.

If you are not registered for GST, you must not charge GST and must not call the document a "tax invoice" — you issue a regular invoice instead. This free generator switches between the two so you always issue the correct document.

What if I am not registered for GST?
