About AussieTools
AussieTools is the calculator library of ECTD, an Australian digital publisher focused on plain-English money, tax and AI education. We build the 8 calculators on this site for one reason: most financial calculators online are either US-centric, buried in ads, or demand your email before showing a number. Ours are free, Australian, and instant.
How the numbers are calculated
Every calculator publishes its methodology on the page — the formulas, the brackets, and worked examples. Rates and thresholds come from primary sources: the ATO for income tax, HECS-HELP and GST; each state and territory revenue office for stamp duty; and the RBA for indicative exchange rates. Where a calculator involves assumptions (like investment returns in the compound interest tool), we say so on the page and default to conservative figures.
How often they're updated
Tax and threshold-based calculators are reviewed each financial year (current: 2025–26) and whenever a legislated change lands mid-year — like the HECS-HELP marginal repayment system that took effect on 1 July 2025. If you spot a number that looks out of date, email hello@ectd.com.au and we'll check it against the source.
How the site is funded
AussieTools is free to use and funded two ways: display advertising, and clearly-labelled affiliate recommendations. Affiliate links never change a calculator's results — the maths is the maths. We only list providers we'd genuinely shortlist ourselves, and every affiliate card is marked as sponsored.
What these tools are not
Calculators produce estimates from the inputs you give them. They are general information, not personal financial, tax or credit advice, and they don't consider your circumstances. For decisions that matter — buying property, restructuring salary, choosing investments — talk to a licensed adviser, a registered tax agent, or your lender.
Privacy
The calculators run in your browser — the figures you type are not stored on our servers, and there is no signup. Our full privacy policy, covering cookies and advertising, lives at ectd.com.au/privacy.
More from ECTD
If the calculators help, the long-form guides go deeper: plain-English articles on tax brackets, stamp duty, HECS changes, super basics and first-home costs, plus free downloadable guides.
